Scope of Practice
Project Sunset companions offer non-medical, dignity-centered support. This guide explains what companions may do, what remains outside scope, and how we uphold boundaries and safety.
Companions may
- Provide presence, listening, life review, and legacy or ritual support.
- Coordinate with families for schedules, vigils, respite, and practical logistics.
- Support culturally or spiritually meaningful practices as requested by the client.
- Document wishes and preferences, keep notes for continuity, and share referrals to community resources.
Companions do not
- Perform medical tasks, administer medication, or interpret medical advice.
- Offer legal, financial, or clinical counseling services.
- Provide transportation or physical transfers unless separately licensed/insured and permitted by law.
- Handle controlled substances or engage in any activity requiring professional licensure they do not hold.
Boundaries & consent
- Every engagement begins with clear roles, expectations, and communication preferences.
- Clients control what is shared; companions respect confidentiality within governing laws.
- Sessions occur in agreed-upon safe locations, with check-ins if plans change.
- Pricing, cancellations, and gratuity policies are transparent before work begins.
Safety & escalation
- Emergencies or imminent risk: call local emergency services or 988 (U.S.).
- Concerns about conduct or boundaries should be reported to safety@projectsunset.app for review.
- We may pause accounts while investigating trust & safety reports.
- Mandatory reporting obligations (where applicable by jurisdiction) are followed.
